AT E-SERVICESWORLD CONFERENCE

HP President and Chief Executive Officer Carly Fiorina Addresses the New Era
for Internet Computing at Exclusive Industry Conference

Miami Beach, Fla., Sept. 9, 1999 -- Here today at the E-servicesWorld Executive Conference, Carleton (Carly) S. Fiorina, recently appointed president and chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard Company, delivered the opening keynote on how e-services will be the new era for Internet computing. Approximately 700 Fortune 500 senior executives have gathered for the two-day E-servicesWorld conference to learn how companies can capitalize on e-services to create new revenue streams, more effectively reach customers and drive efficiencies across their organizations.

Fiorina described how the new era of the Internet will transform every aspect of our lives. "With the acceptance of the Internet and World Wide Web as surrogates for the enterprise backbone and because of the economic promise of electronic commerce, telephony and entertainment, we are perched on the brink of truly ubiquitous computing -- a pervasive technology," she said.
